The 2025-26 Teck Regional Cup Series Enters Final Stage

 Up North......

The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers held a decisive lead of 903 points going into the Teck Northern Cup Series finale, which was held in Vanderhoof on February 14th.  The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club of Prince George accumulated enough points during the final race to give them a clear lead in second place (444 points). However, the race for third place was a tight one, with the Cariboo Ski Touring Club of Quesnel (197 points) finishing just ahead of the Nechako Nordics (Vanderhoof - 182).  Also earning points were the Omenica Ski Club (Burns Lake - 140), 100 Mile Nordics (100 Mile House - 72), Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club (Terrace - 52), Mackenzie Nordique Ski Club (49) and Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club (45).

The north had nine clubs participating in the program.  Fortunately, the locations for all six races in the series had enough snow to allow them to take place.

In the Okanagan.......

The 2025-26 club aggregate champion for the Teck Okanagan Cup Series was the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club of Vernon, who dominated the other clubs in their region with 689 points.  Rounding out the seven participating clubs were the Larch Hills Nordic Society (Salmon Arm – 324 points), Telemark Nordic Club (Kelowna - 229), Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club (145), Overlander Ski Club (Kamloops – 48), Nickel Plate Cross Country Ski Club (Penticton – 6) and Sun Peaks Nordic Ski Club (4).

Unfortunately, the Overlander Ski Club had to cancel Teck Okanagan Cup #2 race due to poor snow conditions.  There were 435 competitors in the two races that were held, for an average of 217.5 starters per race, the highest in any of the four regions.

On the Coast.....

The leading club in the Teck Coast Cup Series is once again the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (North Vancouver).  Hollyburn (538 points) has an impressive lead after just one race, which was held at Whistler Olympic Park on Jan 4th.  In second place is the Whistler Nordic Ski Club with 119 points, and third place is Nordic Racers (Burnaby) with 32.  The other participating clubs are the Sea to Sky Nordic Club (Squamish) with 18 points and Spud Valley Nordic Ski Club (Pemberton - 10).

The second and third Teck Coast Cup races of the season, which were to be hosted by the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club at Mt. Washington, were cancelled due to lack of snow.   The next and final race in the series, which will be a Team Sprint format hosted by the Spud Valley Nordic Ski Club, will be held March 8th at Whistler Olympic Park.  To register in Teck Coast Cup #4 click on: https://zone4.ca/event/2026/2ZN6yy/

Down In the Kootenays......

The Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club of Rossland, which has accumulated 474 points, is currently leading the other Kootenay clubs in the chase to be Teck Kootenay Cup Series club aggregate champion. There are still two days of racing left, so this lead could be challenged. In second position is the Kimberley Nordic Club with 328 points, followed by Nelson Nordic Ski Club (275 points), Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club (Invermere - 67 points),  Valhalla Hills Nordic Ski Club (New Denver - 45 points), Fernie Nordic Ski Club (40 points), Kaslo Nordic Ski Club (14 points), Castlegar Nordic Ski Club (12 points) and the Golden Nordic Ski Club  (5 points).

The Kootenay region, like the north, has nine clubs participating in the program. The next and final races in this series, which will be hosted by the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club, will be held the weekend of March 7-8th.  To register in Teck Kootenay Cup #5 and/or #6 click on: https://zone4.ca/event/2026/nP8Zbd/
