BC Ski Team in Sweden
2025 B-Tour

April 4th, 2025

When we woke up on Friday morning, we packed up all of our belongings, cleaned our rooms, and took a final look around the place we had called home for the past week.  Afterward, we gathered for an early lunch and said heartfelt goodbyes to our new Swedish friends from the Gällivare Skidgymnasium.  We were sad to part ways, but so grateful for the memories we had made together in the short time that we had.

Shortly after lunch, we loaded into the vans and began the long drive south toward Kalix. The scenery along the way was stunning, with snowy landscapes stretching out in every direction, reminding us just how far north we really were. Once we arrived in Kalix, we had the exciting opportunity to watch the Swedish Senior Nationals team sprint event. It was incredible to see elite athletes like Ebba Andersson, Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist, and Anton Grahn competing up close—it gave us all a boost of inspiration and appreciation for the sport.

After the races, we continued on to Luleå, where we checked in for the night at the Scandic Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by how cozy and comfortable the Murphy beds were, and it felt good to finally unwind after a long day of travel and activity. It was the perfect way to end a memorable day.

My roommates and I woke up tired from the long ski the day before, but eager to get out again.  Mark, Xavier and I had a quick breakfast of eggs and toast before getting our ski gear on and leaving to meet the rest of the group at the school for skiing.  We got to the bottom of Dundret (the largest mountain in the area) and started quickly up so that we could catch some of the year 1 and 2 students from the ski school. After the ascent up the mountain, we took group pictures and sent it down the icy slopes.

Once we made our way down, it was time to eat lunch at the school.  The lunch consisted of a potato and ham dish with vegetables on the side.  For the rest of the afternoon, our group rested in our respective apartments and got some home work done before we left to Hellnerstadion for dinner with some of the ski school students.  For dinner, we had Palt, a traditional Swedish dish which was served with lingonberry sauce and bacon. We finished dinner with a cleansing sauna at the stadium and walked home beneath the northern lights.
